about
The song is about the main Monologue of Sophocle's play "Ajax". The hero is in dismay now enemy of both the Trojans and the Greeks, and can't seem to find a way to keep both his honor, and his life. Suggesting that a person may withstand some suffering, but have to Rebel after a certain point. And Questioning on how may one enjoy life, when facing the inevitability of death.

And What am I to Do Now?
When All the Gods are Openly my Enemies
The Army of the Greeks Hates Me
And the Whole of Troy, and so do these Fields.
How can I go back to my Homeland?
How can I cross the Aegean Sea
Abandoning Atreides
And the whole of Our Fleet
Shall I Face my Father
Will His Heart Bear
To See me Return Empty-Handed?
No! This I Cannot Stand
Should I Leap Upon the Trojans
And Alone, Fight Against Them
To Accomplish Some Heroic Deed
Before Death Comes In the End
I have to Find a Way
To Prove my Old Father
That, I, Being His Son, No Coward am I
It is Unmanly Shame
Seeking to Live a Long Life
When One’s Unable to Alter his Suffering.
This I Cannot Stand
What Joy, can Each day Bring
When Each Day, even though Feigning to postpone
Brings Us Closer to Death,
Each Day brings Us Closer to Death
This I Cannot Stand
No! This I Cannot Stand

Up until now this is my favorite Varathron release with it's perfect level of aggression and great variation. Let's see, if The Crimson Temple will be able to change that. mourner
The metal’s band revelatory new record crosses genres and styles, effortlessly combining seemingly incompatible subgenres. Bandcamp Album of the Day Apr 26, 2024
Can you have your black metal with no moronic samples, with guitars downtuned to drill holes in your very self, hypnotizing bass lines, drums that are something more than blast beats and vocals that don't need to be soaked in reverb, and on top of it fast, melodic, headbanging and catchy?
Yes.
p.s. my grandma used to say: never judge a metal album by its intro. YomaBarr
